Roos Take on the Pine Barrens! Off Road Roos NJ State Forest Cleanup Recap
The Off Road Roos traded their usual off-roading adventures for a weekend of environmental stewardship, tackling a massive cleanup in the heart of the New Jersey Pine Barrens from July 26-28, 2024. This dedicated crew of Subaru enthusiasts proved that their love for the outdoors goes beyond just exploring it – they’re committed to protecting it too!
A Dirty Job, Done with Passion:
This wasn’t your average trail cleanup. The Roos braved intense heat, unforgiving terrain, and swarms of bugs to reach neglected areas deep within the Pine Barrens. They hauled out a staggering 7500 POUNDS of trash, clearing everything from illegal dumpsites to hidden lakeshores.
Hidden Lake Rescue:
One of the highlights of the cleanup was the restoration of a “forbidden” lake, a hidden gem buried under debris and neglect. The Roos, granted special access, transformed this forgotten spot into a pristine oasis, demonstrating the power of community action.
More Than Just a Cleanup:
The weekend was filled with camaraderie, teamwork, and the satisfaction of making a tangible difference. The Roos strengthened their bonds while contributing to the preservation of this unique and beautiful ecosystem.
Partners in Preservation:
This impactful cleanup wouldn’t have been possible without the support of key partners:
- Subaru of America: Subaru’s commitment to environmental stewardship aligned perfectly with the Roos’ mission, providing crucial support for the initiative.
- New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection: The NJDEP collaborated with the Roos, providing access and guidance to ensure the cleanup’s success.
- The Hauling Department: This local business generously donated their services, handling the removal and proper disposal of the massive amount of collected trash.
